It seems like every other Twitter spam-follower that I get lists “forex trader” in his its bio.
Like anyone really knows what that is. “Forex” sounds more like a pharmaceutical brand than a financial vocation. I doubt it registers with most Americans; certainly not to the degree that other get-rich-quick schemes like day-trading do. My impression is that it’s a more recognizable scam opportunity in the English-speaking world outside the US — about all these spambots hail from (or claim to hail from) the UK or Australia.
I just think it’s amusing that listing an alleged proficiency at swapping shekels is considered a badge of honor amongst Web hucksters, human or digital. And it’s even more amusing to assume that a percentage of onliners fall for the claim.
