A municipal investigation into diversity in the advertising industry’s workforce and management, which started six months ago, is now complete: The ad shops agreed to hire and promote more minorities and women under a supervised program for the next several years.

The question is, will this result in tangible differences in what comes out of the likes of WPP, Interpublic and the like? Despite all the metrics-measurement and other demographics tools employed, having different people at the helm is bound to result in different flavors of campaigns. It’ll be interesting to gauge the effect over the next five years.
