Turns out Tacitus was right all along. After months of rumors — which brought many a visitor this way — Home Depot finally bought St. Petersburg-based Cox Lumber.
So I guess Piper Jaffray’s Michael Cox is off the hook. It’s a shame — I really liked the idea that the whole thing was a baseless rumor, triggered by a coincidental similarity with some analyst’s name. Oh well.
First Hughes Supply, now Cox… Sheesh, why doesn’t Home Depot just move to Florida and get it over with?

Yup. Not nearly as funny as Florida’s transformation into a banking colony for Alabama and New York during the ’90s, but funny enough.
