Last day, y’all. But I am riding out in style.

This afternoon, after the annual wrap-up meeting, Florida Trend springs for the entire staff to attend a matinee performance of Cirque du Soleil (the name of which always makes me think of Ban de Soleil, actually — the result of one too many TV commercial viewings as a child). The show is Varekai, the location is Tropicana Field in mid-town St. Pete. I’m sure it’ll be a thrill!

After the show, there’s an informal mixer at Midtown Sundries. I guess that’ll be my “final” goodbye (although I can always come back to visit). If it’s as much fun as my parting lunch party, I’ll be satisfied.

Tomorrow continues the fistful of fun I’ll be having. In the afternoon, I have a kiddie birthday party to attend for my friends Tom and Amber’s 2-year-old daughter. Then, tomorrow night I’m heading to the Jerry Seinfeld performance at Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. And that ought to be a blast as well! Plus whatever mischief I decide on after that show.

The fun never ends when you reach free agency, let me tell you.
