I’m not complaining about naming the upcoming movie about Johnny Cash after his song “I Walk the Line” (subtly dropping the “I”). But I do wonder why his other song titles didn’t make the cut:
- “Man in Black”: The obvious choice, I think. Of course, there might have been the fear of people thinking the film would be about sartorially-similar Jerry Glanville.
- “Ring of Fire”: Suggests action-packed action! And probably my favorite Cash song.
- “Folsom Prison Blues”: Conveys a gritty and soulful air.
- “Five Feet High and Rising”: A little esoteric; good if they wanted to woo the arthouse crowd.
- “Ballad of a Teenage Queen”: Um, yeah, I know — I’m stretching it a bit. But this one would draw in that ever-important youth audience, who are always looking for a cinematic thrill.
Between Hurricane Katrina’s ravaging of New Orleans, and minority rioting in France, the French/Gallic cultural sphere is convulsing like crazy.
So, Quebec: Watch your back, mon ami.
