Population Statistic: Read. React. Repeat.
Wednesday, December 15, 2021

About a third of a year ago, I swapped out the name “The Critical ‘I’ “ for, obviously, “Population Statistic”. It was time for a change, and it was a good one.

But since then, I’ve had the nagging feeling that the transformation was incomplete. Sure, I changed the name of my blog, but I myself was still lugging around the same name I’ve had for three whole decades! Didn’t seem right.

So, I’m considering re-branding my own self. After all, our names and our identities are indelibly linked, so a name change is the first step toward a whole new life relaunch. Or something.

Here are the three finalists:

1. Joey Jo-Jo Junior Shabadoo. It’s got a nice ring to it!

2. Branko Radivojevic. I’ve got to face facts: I’m 33 years old. If I’m ever going to break into the NHL, I’ve got to make my move now, baby; and the unlikelihood of a lockout resolution could be my opening. I figure swiping adopting the name of an established player will give me a competitive advantage over any other would-be scab players. Plus, I want a name that will be sure to trip up Craig Kilborn when he inevitably returns to SportsCenter.

3. Oh yeah, the third one… Um… errr… man, this is some kinda pressure.

Oh, okay, I’ve got one:

Craig Kilborn.

I can’t miss with any of them, really. Maybe I’ll adopt all three, and alternate them at my discretion. That’s the ticket!

Tasty, no? That would be Pamela Anderson, doing what she does best, all for PETA’s “Fur Is Dead” campaign.

Regardless of what you think of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, you’ve got to appreciate their ability to deliver nekkid supermodels.

This ad is set to launch in China, if it can get past the state censors.

The Chinese script on the ad allegedly reads, “cold shoulders are nothing compared to the pain they feel” and “please don’t wear fur”. Of course, to be sure, I ought to consult with Tian at the world-famous Hanzi Smatter.
