Allerca, a company that’s touting itself as a provider of “lifestyle pets”, has announced the development of a hypoallergenic cat in three years’ time.

Yes, it’s playing God with God’s creatures. But as I noted before, as long as the subjects are cute and non-human, it’s all good.

    Sorry, could not resist. But this is kinda science fiction scary. Genetically engineered cats that people won’t be allergic to. I mean, OK, cloning Doly the Sheep was pretty fucking cool, but it was pretty scary.

  5. no, no, I’m talking about the new-fangled method of engineering. I used to do that for a living. of course, it was only with bacteria and viruses. and it was boring. which is why I ran screaming from a career in the lab.
    I suppose producing an engineered cat might be slightly more exciting.
