What’s the good news in LA Dodgers pitcher Vicente Padilla shooting himself in the leg this week?

At least he did it in his native Nicaragua. Had he done it in the States, Padilla probably would be looking at a Plaxico Burress-type prison sentence, to compound the stupidity.

Seriously, what is it with these self-inflicteds? The athletes have gone from shooting themselves up with steroids to simply shooting themselves up. As if they could fill their bodies with something even more dangerous than performance-enhancement drugs…

Football and baseball have started the trend. NHL and NBA, you’re up. Sean Avery, Ron Artest — I’m looking in your directions…
