It worked for oil, so why not for another non-renewable energy resource? Iran, Qatar, and Russia are contemplating the formation of an OPEC-style global cartel for natural gas exporters.

Which would give the world OGEC, or maybe even ONGEC. Neither acronym really rolls off the tongue. Too bad they can’t emphasize the hydrocarbon basis of mostly-methane gas, and go with OHEC — as in, “Oh heck! Why’s my gas bill so high? Damn Russians!”
