Go to the tourist destination that is Hamilton Island, Australia (part of the Whitsunday Islands chain), and you’ll find this curious expression in stone:
A first look at the statue, I can say that it was created by a great sculptor. Don’t go too fast! If you look at the back of that statue, you can find a crazy alien. What is the alien doing there?!? We can read on the statue “You shall know the TRUTH and the TRUTH shall make you FREE”.
I don’t know how “crazy” that alien is. Standard universal depiction of the black-eyed, long-headed extraterrestrial, looks like to me. And does he need to be crazy to end up in a down-under tourist trap? Let’s not be judgmental.
Anyway, one to add to the global lineup of strange statue art.

I don’t know how original this is but it does raise a smile if nothing more.
Do you think it is stone or from a mould? If it is the former then it would have required a little bit of skill!

The original that is the subject of this post was carved in marble by Foot Young, who is an incredible artist who has the studio on the island. He carves all his originals and then uses them to make a mould from which he then mixes some type of compound of marble dust and resin which means people are able to buy cheaper versions of his statues. If you visit the studio, he has also carved several stones that form part of the walls of the studio!!
He is very taelneted and his staues range in size from quite small to the really large sculptures. I own two of the m,oulded versions, one of a whale braching, and one of a stingray and they both give me immense pleasure. If you ever get a chance go to the island and tyake a look for yourself. Or he has a webpage http://www.foot.com.au/
