nothing left to chanceThere he was, walking directly in front of me. Giving me — and the world — a clear sartorial view of his ultra-risk-averse psyche.

But that’s just one of the many fashion/utilitarian assessments you can make about pairing a belt with suspenders.

The gentleman in this photo was a white-haired old geezer. I can only guess at how long he’s been sporting his look, with or without the plaid shirt.

  1. Just make sure he’s not wearing black socks with sandals or we may have a rip in the fabric of space-time.

  2. He’s an old man, I dunno if I can hold this against him. I expect my oldtimers to make odd fashion choices.

  3. Funny, I thought the kids were the ones expected to make the outlandish fashion statements.

Actually, older folks can be forgiven for fashion faux pas along the lines of wearing hopelessly out-of-date styles. The theory is that you freezeframe your wardrobe to what was in style when you were 30-40. But in this case, it’s not like the belt-suspender look was ever an acceptable choice.
