Since I started off with a song lyric last time, it’s only right that I do so again now:
You can checkout any time you like
But you can never leave
Only a couple of weeks after wrapping up FloridaTrend.com’s January issue, today I agreed with the magazine to put up the February issue.
I’m not sure why I took the job. The money’s okay, but I really don’t need it. And unlike the last go-round, I’m not really looking for something else to occupy my time. I was planning on getting everything in gear for my move up to New York by the end of next week. So it’ll be interesting trying to juggle those logistics with what will probably be at least 40 hours of work — and most of it requiring me to go to the office, because I don’t own a Mac. (Truthfully, I was already looking at waiting until the following week to actually embark on the northern trek, but still.)
From Florida Trend’s perspective, I don’t think I’m doing them any favors. They haven’t found a replacement for me yet, and knowing they can call me in to pinch-hit is just a crutch. They’re going to have to find a permanent solution at some point; had I said no, they would have been forced to do that now.
I guess it’s petty to complain about work being thrown at me. Despite all the headhunter and contact activity being tossed my way at present, there’s no guarantee I’ll be getting paycheck opportunities in the next few months. Still, I have a feeling I’m going to regret this, hardcore.

FREELANCE’S END, AGAIN
Finally done. Nearly two weeks after agreeing to do it, I’ve wrapped up the February edition of FloridaTrend.com.
It looks pretty good. Considering how much I was juggling while getting set for my exodus to New York (starting this weekend), I t…
