I can’t believe tbt* totally dissed one of my favorite Tampa dives, The Hub!
This, from a publication with which I’m ever-so-loosely affiliated (their offices are literally down the hall from mine). It pains me to the quick.
To each his own. Grub & Club reviewer Nick Margiasso had too much “club” and not enough “bar” in mind when assessing The Hub’s rough charms. It’s certainly not a nightclub, with proper dance area and stylin’ accoutrements — but it’s not aiming to be. This is a bar, unadulterated. You’re there to focus on the drinks and the barflies, and to soak in the atmosphere. It’s a refreshing change-up from the club scene (which is not that far away from Franklin Street, if your mood shifts in mid-drink).
There’s nothing like a negative review to get the comments going; I don’t think I’ve seen this much feedback to any item on the tbt* site (not that I’ve scoured the whole thing).

Amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen or heard of a negative review for that place.
